Digital Inspections Grant Peace of Mind and Allow Car Owners to Get Photos via Text / Email

Weber Automotive has partnered with Virteom to engage our customers and users about our services and the technology behind the scenes. In our video series, our owner Bryan and Jacqui discuss topics that are taking Weber auto care to the next level. We implement technology with auto care and service. This video is all about our digital inspection service, which is all done digitally through a mobile device. Watch or read the transcription below!

What Are Digital Inspections?

We live in a digital age and even in the auto industry having digital services is really important. At Weber Automotive, we do something called digital inspections. What is that exactly?

Digital inspections are when we whenever we get a car in for any type of service it's very important and for us to look the car over, thoroughly. We do an inspection and have some varying points. Some points are comprehensive and some are brief, but what we do that is kind of unique is that digital inspection. We run through an inspection form, documenting all of our findings, and if there’s an issue, we take a picture of it and it gets attached to that part of the inspection.

Documenting the Areas of Concern for Time-Crunched Car Owners

We have tablets with the inspection form on it and then there's anywhere between 30 to 80 point inspections that we do when we run this - depending on what the customer's needs are. In addition to noting specific verbiage relating to the part, issue, or image, our techs can also take a picture on the tablet of an area of concern. Check out our technician taking photos with a Weber tablet in the photo.

This is great for documentation and also to show the customer if they're not at our facility when we want to go over this with them. We can send that via email or text and they can see actually what we're talking about and what we're looking at in their car. In this case, we can say “Look at this with us and we'll show you exactly what we're talking about on your vehicle” there's no question that it's good for credibility - good to remove any question marks left on the owner’s mind. Especially questions they may not know to ask.
We have supporting descriptions of that area of the car and how it's supposed to work, this is why it's important that it gets attached to that picture for the owner.

Always Get a Digital Inspection When Buying a Used Car

When buying a used car, it’s a great idea to get a pre-purchase inspection. If you've looked at a used car being sold, there's always a sticker on the window with it a “As Is” box checked. Once you buy it, it's yours and so are the problems. So, you want to know of the problems the car has before you buy it for sure.

If you're looking to make sure the used car you're buying is in tip-top shape or if you just need to get your car generally inspected, come to Weber Automotive! They're going to teach you as you go, their incredible digital services allow them to work with you either at your appointment, when you're at home, or whatever is flexible for your schedule.

The auto industry is rapidly growing, and theres a lot of technology involved. Every single year, vehicles get more and more advanced. In order to keep up with the ever-advancing technologies, Weber Automotive likes to take a proactive rather than a reactive approach. These days, cars are like computers on wheels. There are 10 to 12 computers, sometimes more, to communicate with each other all the time operating your vehicle. So, we not only have to understand how an engine, brakes work, exhaust systems, an all other parts of the vehicle work but you also have to know battery systems, multiple voltages, hybrid systems, etc. There are so many computers data systems throughout your car that you can even connect your phones to your car. How Weber Stays on Top of Technology The Best Equipment It takes a lot of equipment to be able to diagnose these problems when they come up because vehicles are so complex. Every year, we spend a vast amount of our money and time keeping up with new

There are a few signs to look for when it comes to your vehicle and when it needs to be looked at by a specialist. The first sign is pretty obvious, the check engine light. But sometimes there are other ways of knowing something is wrong with your car. Sometimes you hear a creek or another weird noise coming from your vehicle that shouldnt be happening. Either way, if you suspect something is wrong with your vehicle or there is a clear sign, like the check engine light, we recommend taking it into our shop to be looked at by our experienced technicians. Diagnosing car troubles requires a lot of knowledge of how the system works and sometimes some tenacity and creativity to actually narrow down and pinpoint where the problem is. Electronic Issues We use Pico brand scopes as theyarethe best brand of electrical lab scopes in the industry. We use this scope to help us diagnose why the check engine light comes on. In many cases, an engine malfunction is far beyond what a check engine

What to Do When Your Check Engine Light Comes On

Many car owners believe that they can take their cars into any shop when their check engine light comes on and the shop will scan the vehicle and immediately identify the issue. However, the scan does not tell you what the problem is; it only tells you that there is an issue. What Happens When the Check Engine Light Comes On? When the check engine light comes on it means the computer that operates the power train sees something out of its programmed parameters, and that generally indicates theres a problem with the vehicle. At Weber Automotive, we offer a free code scan in order to provide our customers with more value. If your check engine light comes on, we will run our code scanner which gives us direction to tell you where the problem is. From there we can tell you what tests have to be done beyond that scan to determine exactly whats causing that light to come on. The code is not a diagnosis as it does not tell you what needs to be done to solve that problem. Car Doctors It
