Brake lines are a part of your vehicle's brake system and play a very important role in brake performance and function. It is not often that these lines need attention, in fact, they almost only need repair in areas that use salt on the road during the winter. The salt can cause the brake lines to erode over time.
In Northeast Ohio, we, unfortunately, do have to deal with salt on our brake lines, so we suggest having your brake lines inspected when you come in for an oil change or have any other service done on your vehicle.
However, you will probably only need to repair these lines every ten years.
Although brake lines do not need to be serviced very often, it is extremely important that when they are repaired, they are done correctly. They need to be routed properly, with the right flare and fitting, and much more.
If brake lines are not repaired properly, it can be dangerous because when the brake lines fail, the brakes fail.
